Secured the extension of film tax credits in the state and eliminated the sunset provisions which protected millions of dollars in private infrastructure development and resulted in Louisiana becoming a top three state for movie productions.
Since the inception of the Louisiana Film Tax Credit Program, there has been some question as to the economic value these credits bring to the state. In 2009, the credits were up for reconsideration, and there was a concerted effort to have the credits eliminated. Through the coordination of several disparate entities, united for the common purpose of extending the credits, Southern Strategy Group led the effort to have the credits reauthorized. By mounting an aggressive education and advocacy program, we were able to have the credits extended and also eliminated the sunset provision. This propelled Louisiana to a major player in film production arena and is helping to reshape Louisiana’s workforce.
