Randal Johnson

Randal Johnson joined the SSG team as the landscape of the healthcare continuum across the nation underwent constant change. Randal is a widely recognized expert in healthcare policy impacting individuals, providers and businesses of various sizes. Knowledgeable on matters at both state and federal levels, Randal's management of healthcare issues through legislative and regulatory action has led to the creation and retention of thousands of jobs in Louisiana.

Prior to joining our firm, Randal served as Deputy Commissioner of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry (LDAF), which provided him with applied experience in the legislative process. While at LDAF, Randal initiated and handled the department's legislative package for nearly two decades. Before his time with the LDAF, he supervised multi-jurisdictional drug enforcement units and served as chief of the special investigative divisions, being commissioned by local, state and federal governments. During this time, Randal drafted and presented legislation on behalf of these agencies and departments.

Adept at issues and crisis management, Randal supervised the Department of Agriculture's emergency preparation activities related to animal health, plant health and weather-borne disasters. In the aftermaths of the various hurricanes impacting Louisiana since 2005, Randal personally supervised the successful acquisition and delivery of fuel for evacuation, rescue and recovery efforts across the state.

With political activities ranging across both party and geographical lines, Randal has consulted and worked in various local, state and federal campaigns in his native state of Louisiana. He has coordinated successful statewide get-out-the-vote efforts for elected offices ranging from Police Juror to President of the United States. In addition, he graduated from regional and national law enforcement academies administered by the Department of Justice and holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration.
